Three-Ring Thursday
April 17, 2008 - High Noon
High Balls - 11:30 a.m.
The Yale Club - 50 Vanderbilt Avenue, 20th Floor
(Between E. 44th and E. 45th Sts.)
7:05 p.m. - Bosox Brush Off Bronx Bastids
Please accept our invitation to gather for lunch with fellow Red Sox rooters and celebrate the utter joy that was the 2007 baseball season. Ah, it seems like only moments ago that Papelbon was blowing away the Rockies, setting off a three-day loop of "Dirty Water," "MTA," "Glory Days," and the entire J. Geils and Dropkick Murphys catalogs.
It's been a roller-coaster ride these past few months. Here is "The Offseason In 60" for those of you who look to the BLOHARDS for current events updates:
Dr. Charles Steinberg: GONE to Los Angeles Dodgers
Robert Goulet: DEAD
Glenn Gefner: GONE to Florida Marlins
Roger Clemens: "He emails me and asks me where all the good fishing equipment is down at Cabo..."
Santana: TO METS
Ellsbury, Lester: STILL WITH THE SOX!
Eric Hinske: GONE to Tampa Rays
Joba "Bugsy" Chamberlain: Apparently starting year in bullpen
Pats: 18-1
Belichick: ODD DUCK
Sean Casey: New backup 1B for Sox, nice guy, slowest runner in baseball not named "Molina"
The lunch promises to be one for the ages; a two-hour victory lap disguised as a sit-down meal. We have planned for a Sox player and radio announcer TBD, trivia questions from John Quinn of Professor Thom's fame, a rare public appearance by Red Sox Hall of Famer Dick Bresciani, and the always-hilarious, still-available-for-sponsorship Henry Berry Memorial Slideshow as channeled by Ray Duffy.
